Cambodia to Mark World Teachers’ Day

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport will mark World Teachers’ Day on 5 October. Themed "Teachers Maintain Key Roles in Education at all Circumstances", the event is held every year to express thanks to both in-service and retired teachers at all levels throughout the world for their efforts in promoting learning.

Minister of Education, Hang Chuon Naron, will provide a keynote speech via Zoom to mark the event. His remarks will focus on “Digital Revolution in Education and Implementation of New Teaching Methods.” Management and staff of the ministry, together with 25 municipal and provincial education departments, as well as representatives from the Khmer Academic Staff Association, Cambodian Higher Education Association and relevant development partners are also expected to join the event.

There will also be a ceremony to bestow this year’s "Samdech Techo Sen" awards for outstanding principals, outstanding teachers and clean schools, as well as a discussion on the digital education in Cambodia, which has been brought into sharp focus while schools were closed in the kingdom at the height of the pandemic.
